Las Adverse drug reactions associated with the use of psychotropic drugs in pediatric patients with neurological disorders

Descripció:Objective: To identify and analyze the prevalence and causality of adverse drug reactions in pediatric patients with neurologic diseases. Methods: A population study was carried out with 33 pediatric patients diagnosed with neurologic diseases under treatment with psychoactive drugs. Results: 48 % of patients had adverse drug reactions. Thirty-six adverse events were identified, of which, most were associated to the use of magnesium valproate (39%), and followed by methylphenidate (22%), piracetam (17%), and topiramate (8%). The main identified adverse drug reactions were: caries, hyperplasia, loss of appetite, hypersalivation, insomnia and irritability.
