Descripción: | This article presents the results of the second phase of the OLIVA project, which began with the integration of the metadata of the documents in journals indexed in RedALyC and SciELO and on this occasion addresses the integration of the Latindex catalog and the journals indexed in Biblat. The methodology of the study combines two approaches: a) a study on the coverage of Latindex-Biblat by analyzing 271 journals and 36,425 articles published between 2015 and 2020. Descriptive statistics and a particular focus on the journals published in Mexico are carried out to characterize the uniqueness of the journals included in these two indexing services. b) the systematization of a universe of 4,077 journals indexed in Latin America, describing their disciplinary, linguistic, institutional and editorial morphology. OLIVA-2 thus offers information on all the scientific journals indexed in Latin America, which shows the potential these have in a context of growing commercialization of scientific publishing. Eventually, this universe conforms an autonomous academic publication circuit, conducted by non-profit publishing institutions, and a communication space of critical importance in the transition to open science. |
