| Descripció: | This article examines the relationship between study and formation in three authors of the Middle Ages: Saint Augustine, Dhuoda, and Hugh of Saint Victor. All three authors show that study and formation are related in the process of reading. This exploration is carried out through a conceptual reconstruction based on documentary sour Thus, in St. Augustine, study is understood as a movement of the will toward wisdom, for which it is necessary to know hermeutical rules. In Dhuoda, education appears as work that is done through reading books. In Hugh of Saint Victor, study is conceived as a reading exercise necessary for the restoration of the divine image in each person. In all three authors, it can be traced that formation is related to the encounter with Christian wisdom and the construction of oneself from there, although each of them expresses this idea based on different concepts. All three, in turn, emphasize that encountering wisdom requires contact with books and work, effort, and the practice of reading. The concept of studium emphasizes this reading exercise. |
