Sexual education in Costa Rica. Tensions and advancements in the first decades of 21st century

Descripción:This article systematizes some of the most relevant events that occurred in Costa Rica during the period 2000-2018 around the development of sexual education in the formal educational system, in order to provide elements to understand the national context and point out some challenges faced. The methodology used was the documentary review of texts produced in the country and national news material online. The facts that are analyzed show the complexity that mediates in the fulfillment of this right, interweaving political, cultural, economic and other interests, which generate new challenges for the Costa Rican institutionality.
