Descripción:This article aims to carry out an abstract mural analysis of the architectural work of the mural of the Arnoldo Herrera González Theater, located in Sabana Norte, San José, Costa Rica, prepared in the 1950s by the visual artists Rafael Ángel García and Néstor Zeledón Guzmán with a reinforced concrete technique. Methodologically, interviews were carried out and analyzed with the artists García and Zeledón, members of Group 8 of the Costa Rican plastic arts, as well as a bibliographic review and an analytical observation of the compositional elements of the mural under study. Thus, it seeks to generate visibility by considering itself one of the most important pioneering works of abstract art in Costa Rica. Therefore, it is intended to exalt the value of said artistic work, since it has remained anonymous within the artistic and cultural community of the country. In this sense, the pioneering and innovative large-format abstract work is recognized and exhibited, from the perspective of execution for the artistic heritage, as well as its harmonious consideration together with the architectural work as it is an important aspect within history of Costa Rican art.
