Popis: | This article approaches interethnic relationships in Northern Costa Rica during early 20th century. Its goal is to describe the process of creation of new towns because of peasants’ migration from Costa Rica and Nicaragua and its impact on Malecu indigenous people. Moreover, this piece studies the role of the state as a key factor in those new interethnic relationships. Throughout the analysis of primary sources from different archives, media, and the use of official statistics, this article shows the construction of this region and changes produced in landscapes and cultural relations |
