Descripción:From the complex relationship between democracy and local level found in studies of Peronism (Argentina, 1946-1955), we asked whether in parallel to a greater politicization and an political citizenship expansion, there was a strengthening of popular participation at the municipal level, despite the government's debate, pluralism and decentralization underestimation.Based on the premise that press is a political actor involved in the construction of social representations and therefore influences on people´s behavior of, we are interested in deepening their role in the local democracy exercise of the New Argentina, where the concept of citizen was subsumed by the people. In this regard, and to deepen the relationship between citizen participation at the local level and democracy during Peronism, we intend to explore the discursive foundations developed by some major national and provincial media circulation during 1949, which outstood because of the (national and provincial) constitutional reform, the institutional redefinitions of the municipal system and the holding of the IV Interamerican Municipal Historical Congress. The work invites reflection on the role of the media in the construction of an ideal citizen at the local level.
