EBAP Model: Characterization and evolution of the visual literacy approaches of Etapa Básica de Artes Plásticas: 1985-2017

Deskribapena:The Etapa Básica de Artes Plásticas is a social service project of the University of Costa Rica, which seeks to stimulate the aptitudes and abilities for the creative potential and exploration in the field of the Visual Arts. Through the paper, we show part of the results from the research “Analysis of the visual literacy process of the Etapa Básica de Artes Plásticas”. It consisted of analyzing the didactic strategies applied by the project during its trajectory, based on a referential framework between the execution during its different stages of development and its correlation with the didactics of the arts. Regarding the approach to the concept of visual literacy, we proceeded to review documents about proposals on the subject and teaching models applied on art education. The didactic processes developed with the communities were categorized based on data tracking, bibliographic analysis, and semi-structured interviews. As the research demonstrates, the didactic approach of the project is combinable, expandable, and circumstantial. Its main attributes are the flexibility, the capability of adaptation to the context and the transferability of tacit knowledge.
