Opis:This paper discusses some social stereotypes that teachers of Spanish as a second language maintain, as well as instructors of other languages, regarding women, the concept of family, and the values transmitted to children in class. The text calls for reflection about stereotypes and how texts, such as Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren, presented here, question many of the established concepts about women, girls, social expectations and family, and contrast them with traditional models as they are represented in most of the “Disney Princesses’” films.
