Opis:The article aims to identify the areas of greatest traffic congestion and analyze its intensity at different times, both in the metropolitan area of Santa Cruz and in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, using geospatial analysis tools. For this, data from Google Traffic was collected at specific time slots (8:00, 10:00, 12:00, 16:00, and 18:00), and heat maps were generated using QGIS, focusing on the main roads of the city. The results reveal that critical congestion points are concentrated in the markets and at the signalized intersections of the ring roads, with peak congestion occurring at 8:00 and 18:00. The discussion focuses on four key factors: modalities, highlighting the lack of multimodal connectivity in the transport system; infrastructure, emphasizing the need to restore the originally planned structure for the city; appropriation, underlining the congestion caused in markets by the disorganized occupation of public space; habits and customs, analyzing how fuel subsidies incentivize the widespread use of private transportation. Finally, the conclusions suggest optimizing public transport, improving road infrastructure, and promoting proximity urbanism strategies to progressively reduce the traffic congestion problems faced by the metropolitan area.
