Omschrijving:It is not providing that they open or not, neither how much do they open; the problem is which is the context wherein they open. The discussion about the relationship between openness and economic growth is still unfinished. Until our days, some results show a positive linkage. However, other papers point out the ambiguity or, at least, a lack of robustness. Our paper has the purpose of incorporating new evidence to the discussion. Our principal result is that there are important differences between groups of countries with regard to the relevant factors that explain the technological performance and growth.
