Descripción:A case of myxolipoma of the forearm is presented. After the clinical description of the case, an histological study is made. With reference too the criteria proposed by SPONSEL el al. (7) to distinguish between myxoma and myxosarcoma, i. e., the silver staining fibrils and the vascular pattern, the present case was of an intermediate type similar to the only case occurring on the forearm discussed in the publication mentioned. In sections stained with Schiff's periodic acid technique, results parallel closely those obtained with silver staining. The authors remark that the affinity for S. P. A. stain of the reticular fibrils may be an indication of a sugar component in their structure, and suggest that therein may lie the reason for the relationship between the amount of reticular material and the malignancy of the tumor shown by SPONSEL el al. S. P. A. stain might become a useful tool in distinguishing between myxoma and myxosarcoma.
