Descripción: | This article analyzes the discourse built around family in Costa Rica from the year 2000 to 2019. To achieve this, different normative documents (such as laws, bills and resolutions) were reviewed through critical discourse analysis theory. The study revealed there is a political consensus between neoliberalism and religious fundamentalism, which sustains a conservative notion concerning the nuclear family, based on heterosexual marriage, that holds women responsible of fulfilling the notion’s primary mandate of procreation. |
