Resilience and Adaptation in Change Processes in an Academic Library

| Descripción: | This study aimed to analyze the resilience strategies developed by employees of the Library System of the University of Antioquia during the transformation from a traditional library into a Learning, Research, and Innovation Resource Center (CRAI+I), as well as the autoplastic and alloplastic adaptations associated with this organizational change. A hermeneutic-interpretive approach was employed, based on semi structured interviews conducted with fifteen employees of the Carlos Gaviria Díaz Library. The analysis made it possible to understand the meanings that participants attributed to the institutional transformation and the ways in which they adapted to new work dynamics, cultural changes, and the reconfiguration of workspaces. The findings show that a willingness to learn, the gradual adaptation to new organizational forms, the reinterpretation of previous experiences, and the development of resilience capacities facilitated the transition to the CRAI+I model. Furthermore, listening, the verbalization of experiences, dialogue, and accountability emerged as mechanisms that helped overcome resistance, foster the appropriation of new work practices, and support the construction of an organizational culture oriented toward change. The study concludes that organizational resilience in contexts of library transformation does not depend solely on individual attributes but also on the creation of spaces for participation, listening, and collective meaning-making that enable employees to understand, internalize, and actively engage in innovation processes. In this regard, autoplastic and alloplastic adaptations, mediated by dialogue and shared reflection, emerge as key factors for the sustainability of change processes in contemporary academic libraries. |
