Descripción: | Two new forms of digenetic trematodes, family Opecoelidae Ozaki, 1925 are described. Opecoelus pacificus parasitizes Clinocottus analis australis Hubbs, 1926 from California, U. S. A. It diffyrs from the other species of the genus by: length and form of the seminal vesicle; ovoid form of the testes; dorsal subterminal position of the anus and distribution of the vitteline glands.Pseudopecoelus littoralis parasitizes Genyonemus lineatus (Ayres; 1855) from California, U. S. A. It is close to P. umbrinae Manter et van Cleave, 1951 found in Umbrina roncador Jordan et Gilbert, 1881 from La Jolla, California, U. S. A., in the position of the genital pore and in the shape of the pharynx but it differs in having a shorter seminal vesicle; the testes are larger, and it has a vitteline receptacle, and many compact vitteline follicles. From the other species of the genus, it differs principally in the position of the genital pore, in the form of the testes and ovary, and in the distribution of the vitteline glands. |
