Descripción: | This article presents a study concerning the literary sources and legends of Macías, a Galician troubadour of the end of the 14th century, whose fame and traditions have been one of the most documented within Spanish literature, not only by his contemporaries but also by later authors. The study of this tradition closely follows, over all, an interest in understanding the comedy of Lope de Vega, "Persistence until Death" in which the Phoenix is to be taken as pre-text to the legend of Macías, The Lover. |
