Capacitación sobre estrategias de comunicación alternativa y aumentativa para la atención de niños con parálisis cerebral infantil.

Descripción:The objective of this paper is to present the results of the implementation of a training program on communication strategies for the augmentative and alternative care of children with cerebral palsy. The study was conducted at the Hospital Nacional de Niños "Dr. Carlos Sáenz Herrera" To elaborate a diagnosis of educational needs was applicated a questionnaire to 54 nursing professionals working in the fields of Surgery, Medicine and Infectious Diseases. The program was provided to 13 nursing professionals. The study covered different phases: an assessment of educational needs, developing a design instruccioneal called "Learn to communicate with them, learn to understand" development program with seven sessions which were evaluated by applying a post-test. In developing the program showed a marked difference of concepts and ideas compared to those who had prior to training. Furthermore, the concept of communication became more clear and complete post-training participants were able to identify the various barriers of communication. Notably, after training, all the professionals came to understand the concept of alternative and augmentative communication, and their usefulness in care. It was concluded that there is a high ignorance and misconceptions on the subject, as well as the need for awareness and training in this respect also, the nurse is limited by the conditions under which it works. On the other hand, consider a dynamic and active in the design of training, and finally, it is essential leadership role that has nursing and education.
