Descripción: | In observations on the abundance and diversity of the estuarine fish of the Caribbean coast of Panama, twenty-six species were found. Juveniles of Ulaema lefroyi and Mugil trichodon were the most abundant (31% and 28% respectively, of the total catch). Collections were made during the rainy season, from May 10 December of 1977.A low fish diversity was observed and H' maximum values ranged from 0.81 to almost 0.90. The study of the effects of salinity, temperature and rainfall on the fish population shows that probably only temperature has some influence on the diversity. Length and abundance of a few species are also correlated with some of these parameters. |
