Miêu tả:This work is based on data from the survey in two communities in the canton of Puntarenas, a major historical centers of tourism in the country, which are very different in their origins and socioeconomic status of its residents, as are Juanito Mora, located in the district of Barranca and El Barrio el Carmen, located in the central district of Puntarenas and integral part of what is known as the historic city of l same name. Data were obtained from research conducted by the research project team INTERSEDES called “historic centers of tourism: Puntarenas and Limón”, which is developed with researchers at the headquarters of Puntarenas, Limón and the School of Sociology University of Costa Rica. The objective of the research was to determine the impact of tourism on these communities and more specifically characterize households wanted, knowing the composition of the labor force, about the source of individual and family income and the opinions that people have about tourism, local culture and the role of local institutions in the development of these communities. In our case we want to compare the same variables in two communities with different characteristics, located in a focus of national tourism, to determine how these communities perceive tourism as economic activity and its contribution to local development.
