Method: Qualitative, descriptive-exploratory study of social representations with a procedural approach. Fifteen sex workers participated in the study, these men having sex with men, homosexuals, transvestites and transsexual women. The data were collected through an interview script of the structured type and a sociodemographic questionnaire, from March 2015 to March 2016. The analysis of evaluative content was used as a technique. Results: The social representations of the HIV/AIDS study subjects present conceptual elements about the virus and the disease, vulnerability; treatment; prevention; and transmission. Conclusion: Participants show in their representations the deficit of health promotion strategies on the theme, focused on their needs and specificities. |
