Descripción:This article analyzes how the concept of "peace" was used by the media discourse of the Costa Rican newspapers La Nación,Semanario Universidadand el Eco Católicoduring the years 1981 and 1990. The study starts from the importance of the concepts as linguistic vehicles that achieve accumulate own experiences of the actors that make use of them and that express themselves through the discourse as a social practice. "Peace" was a key concept when the press dealt with the topic of the agreements and negotiations carried out by the Central American states in the midst of a political crisis and the strong interference of powers, mainly the United States. The work reconstructs a political and ideological dispute about the type of "Peace" that was sought to promote and that was reflected in the speeches about Contadora and the Arias Plan.
