Parental Attachment and Disruptive Behavior in Adolescents: The Mediating Role of Self-Esteem

| Beskrivelse: | Objective. This study aimed to explore the role of self-esteem as a mediator in the relationship between parental attachment and disruptive behavior. Method. A total of 300 adolescents aged 12 to 17 years were conveniently selected from four secondary schools in Chittagong, Bangladesh to carry out the present study. Three psychological scales were used to collect data in this study. Results. The results of the present study revealed that 42.33% of the adolescents showed moderate levels of disruptive behavior. Adolescents with disruptive behavior had significantly lower levels of attachment than their non-disruptive counterparts. Self-esteem was a mediator of the relationship between maternal attachment and disruptive behavior. |
