Descripción: | During the last two decades of the 19th Century, the large scale mining industry became a part of Costa Rica geography, ranging from Monte de Aguacate, to the surrounding Puntarenas area and ending in Abangares. This essay demonstrates how the mining artists called coligalleros, are persecuted by the mining industrial companies that are located in the Abangares zone, particularly in the La Sierra district. Also, it analyzes the political turmoil derived from the provoked debate between the foreign companies lawyers and the coligalleros, thus how the extreme concessions that the State granted to large amounts of capital, so that they could exploit the ground and its subsoil. |
