About Reading and Writing Skills of Freshmen Students at the UCR

Descripción:Professors often complain about the lack of reading of the freshmen students of the Universidad de Costa Rica. This article compares the situation about the reading skills and difficulties of these students in the year of 2009 and 2016. Students who participate were studying the course of Humanities offered by the UCR. In order to stablish the comparison, students filled a small survey; they also offered extra comments and expression which complement the questions asked. The results and comments showed that the habits have not changed very much; neither the difficulties that they face once that the start the assigned readings and papers at the University.
