Descripción:The core argument of this paper is the Latin American Critical Thought (PCL, for its acronym in Spanish) and its link or relationship with what we have called ‘democracies for liberatation’ (Altamirano, 2016, 2017). In this regard, we analyze some of the theoretical contributions by Horacio Cerutti Guldberg (HCG). Historically, the PCL has focused in the searching for elements that pave the ways to make possible the liberation of subjugated and exploited populations. For this reason we consider there are knowledge that has been developed and produced in regard to what happens in the different spheres of society that drive the paths towards a future we might consider utopian. It is our position that the PCL legacy considers a possible future in which all human beings can become subjects who can fully develop in all environments and in any activity. In this understanding is that the current hegemonic democracies can become democracies of another type, allowing the majority to meet the physical and spiritual needs that every human being needs, becoming liberating democracies.
