Descripción:This research aimed to analyze the application of a bio-pedagogical mediation built on the basis of constructivism in the learning and understanding of healthy living habits, specifically those related to food, physical activity, social relations, psycho-affective status and information about heart disease in patients undergoing cardiac rehabilitation. A qualitative approach to the ideographic nature was implemented; it analyzed individual behaviors, habits, and customs, appreciating them in all their richness, to understand the reasons and decisions. The study involved five patients (4 men and 1 woman), who had cardiovascular events, aged between 40 to 65 years old. The bio-pedagogical mediation lasted 6 weeks, and 18 sessions of one hour per patient were held; each patient was able to read and write with no problems. Five categories of analysis were conducted: emotional-affective, nutritional, social, cognitive behavior and physical activity. To obtain the relevant expressions, three instruments were used for the respective analysis: life stories, incomplete sentences, and free association. The conclusion of this study was the improvement of the patient´s understanding of the importance of changing life habits, specifically in the five categories of analysis; this conclusion was verified in the follow-up done to the participants for two years after receiving the bio-pedagogical mediation.
