Descripción: | The present work consists of an analysis of the phonetic and phonological properties of the sequences /t-k/ and /b-d-ɡ/ from the Guaymi spoken in La Casona, Puntarenas, Costa Rica. The corpus was analyzed with Speech Analyzer and the Lisker and Abramson (1964) method was applied in order to obtain the values of the V.O.T. The results suggest that the sequence /t-k/ does not present systematic allophonic variations, while /b-d-g/ alternates with stop, fricative, and approximant allophones; neutralization among stop phonemes is not frequent. Lastly, the V.O.T. contributes to the differentiation between voiceless and voiced stops. |
