Beschreibung:During the pandemic, when domestic violence intensified in Chile and around the world, religious discourse took centre stage and had a significant impact on pastoral care. In this context, this article critically examines the discourse disseminated on social media by the Pentecostal Methodist community during the first half of 2020, highlighting how a male voice of authority tended to minimize the impact of domestic violence on the lives of female believers. From the perspective of Latin American Feminist Liberation Theology and using categories of Appraisal Theory, online sermons are analyzed to reveal power dynamics and the silencing of violence.
