实物特征:Magdalena (1902) is Costa Rica’s first theatrical work. Its authorRicardo Fernández Guardia (Alajuela, 1867- San José, 1950) willstablish, at the beginning of the last century, the values of CostaRican nationality. In this complex evolution of socio-political history,he searched for glimpses of modernity represented in Magdalena, who opposes the traditional estates. It should be noted thatthere are other works that have dealt with the ideology of nationalidentity (Ramírez, 1992), review the oligarchy, liberalism andmarriage (Quesada, 2017), the evolution of the female theme inCosta Rican plays (Cortés, 2018), or from the historiographicalpart an approach to the documents of the reception of the theatricalwork (Quesada, 2017). In this paper, we intend to study twoaspects: the approach to the vision of female education, and theCosta Rican Europeanization as symbols of the formation of theCosta Rican national state, and ultimately the representation of thehomogenization of the Costa Rican population.
