Descripción: | Given the knowledge existing on the capacity of mobilization of Crocodylus acutus, an investigation was carried out at the genetic level to determine if exist a metapopulational dynamic between the populations of crocodiles from three rivers in the central pacific of Costa Rica. 70 DNA samples were obtained from the crocodiles inhabit the rivers Jesus Maria, Tarcoles and Tusubres. The results confirm the existence of a metapopulationall dynamics because the values from genetic differentiation and genetic distance between populations in addition to the gene flow. This finding serves as base to become aware that polices in the country about conservation and handling of this species must change, since until the moment it have treated like independent populations. |
