Περιγραφή:The article analyzes global health as an object of study of International Relations, examining its historical evolution, its conceptualization and the main institutional mechanisms that structure its governance. The objective is to demonstrate the relevance of addressing global health from a multilevel perspective that integrates international system structures, state dynamics, and subnational actors. An analytical matrix is constructed based on the adaptation of the levels of analysis proposed by Kenneth Waltz, expanding them to five levels: systemic, state, international institutional, transnational and sub-state/local. Based on the theoretical and empirical review, it is identified that the discipline has addressed health from macrostructural and state-centric approaches, although the most consistent contributions come from border and transnational studies. This paper also examines recent initiatives promoted by international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), highlighting the COVAX Global Access to COVID-19 Vaccines mechanism used during the pandemic as an example of global health diplomacy. It concludes that global health requires a transdisciplinary and multilevel approach to understanding its political, regulatory, and social dimensions within the contemporary international system.
