Descripción:Introduction. Traditionally, types of knowledge have been categorized as popular, religious, and scientific; however, their construction is a complex phenomenon that depends on the interaction between the subject and their environment. Currently and most evidently, this comes from institutions of higher education, which favor a type of useful and rapid knowledge, as well as its quantity, often limiting critical reflection. Objective. To analyse the construction of educational knowledge from its philosophical, social, political, educational and ethical dimensions, as well as the challenges it faces in the current context. Discussion. The text questions how certain contemporary university models produce and use theoretical constructs, displacing their critical, ethical, and transformative meaning. However, it acknowledges that there are certain institutions that, from the humanities and their humanistic praxis, resist this trend in the face of excessive productivity and market conditions. Conclusions. It is concluded that the generation of knowledgemust regain its ethical and transformative dimension, moving away from the positivist logic of the market, in such a way that it responds to social challenges and contributes to integral human development.
