Descripción: | Within the framework of the "International Forum of Latin America and the Caribbean in the Information Society", the author considers the ten main guidelines on the competencies of the information professional, given the great need facing the region with respect to these criteria. It then establishes the priority duties related to literacy, human rights, knowledge, information security and others. In the same line, it addresses the trends in Higher Education oriented to these ends that involve the use of New Information and Communication Technologies (NICT), and how the system should be structured from the curricular conception (University oriented to learning). Subsequently, to refers to the emerging needs in the training of information professionals, based on the new paradigms that arise for the transformation and accompaniment of more traditional functions. At the same time, it emphasizes the role of the information professional based on the new commitments imposed by the booming technologies and the large amounts of information that must be faced today. Finally, to refer to the establishment of quality standards in the training process. |
