Descripción:Art, history and knowledge are important tools for building a better nation. This article explores the origins of dance in Guatemala, a story that spans from 1860 to the present day, highlighting personalities such as dancers and maestros with studies and careers abroad. It mentions the official institutions that initiated the movement of classical ballet, modern and folkloric dance. Reference is made to the visit of international shows that enriched the artistic vision of the country. The creation of the National School of Dance, of groups such as the Dance Group of the San Carlos University of Guatemala (USAC) and of numerous independent studios, both in the center and in the interior of the country, stands out in importance. The work ends with some interviews with prominent dance personalities. The historical photographs, very valuable, enrich this discursive axis.
