Description:An analysis is presented of the results of a survey carried out to explore the apparent prestige of the English language in Costa Rica. We researched the perception of English as a language that generates opportunities for employment and economic growth. We surveyed 122 Costa Ricans from 15 to 66 years old. The data obtained suggest that English appears to have prestige in Costa Rica, and that it is well received by many as a foreign language that should continue to be taught in public institutions.
