Descripción:This  research  involved  a  twenty  months  fieldwork  (2003-2004) conducted in the community of Siberia, Páramo District, Perez Zeledón Cantón, San José Province. This community is located on Kilometer  99.5  of  the  Intermerican  South  Road.  The  research consisted in preparing and giving a Training Course to twenty-three members of the community in order that they  become Local Nature Guides. The experience provided the basis for designing a methodological proposal aimed at the training of Local Nature Guides under similar conditions.  The results were focused on answering the following questions: where to teach?, who to teach?, what to teach?, how to teach?, and lastly, how to evaluate the overall learning experience?. The methodology that was employed allowed attendants to obtain the necessary knowledge and skills to perform successfully as Local Nature Guides.
