Descripción:Recently, discussions on aesthetics in Latin America have been revived. The question remains latent for an aesthetics with its own stamp, free from the models and ideas of beauty imposed by European aesthetics in the colonized world of the periphery. This article proposes, on the one hand, to question the idea that aesthetics is understood only as a privileged discourse of some philosophers of the eighteenth century who ventured to create a conceptual corpus with ideas about taste and beauty, to show, on the other hand, rather the critical and emancipatory content that is born with aesthetics understood as a regime of visibility. It is a matter of redefining the field of experience of aesthetics (aisthesis) as a device and paying attention to the elements that may come into play in a discussion on the value of aesthetics in Latin America and the global South.
