Beskrivelse:Extension is part of one of the substantive areas of the National University; it is a process that allows for the establishment of relationships and direct communication with society and its organizations. Through it, relationships are built, and knowledge is shared, facilitating interaction between the university and society. This interaction requires commitment from the actors involved, in the sense of responding to demands and proposing alternatives that contribute to meeting needs. Beekeeping in the canton of Nicoya has been developed for years on a small scale. Beekeepers used to harvest honey and distribute it among neighbors, friends, and family, leaving aside large-scale commercialization. The emergence of this research stems from the need for proposals that strengthen beekeeping production units, in the face of the visible effects of unemployment and the historical vulnerability in which beekeepers have lived.
