Descripción: | Bos Taurus and B. indicus cows and heifers were studied durin 18 months to detect the presence of ticks of the Amblyomma genus and its corporal distribution on the bovine. Also, the incidence was assessed. This study was carried aou in two farms located lied in Balsa de Atenas, belonging to the Escuela Centroamericana de Ganadería. There was a significant difference in the amount of tick found, and the number of infested animals in rainy reason versus dry season, being highest in rainy season in both cases. Only twice, during the dry season was posible to collect nymphs of this genus. The analysis of corporal distibution of the tcks on the bofy of the cattle shown an increased amount in the perineum, the base of the tail, udder, armpit, and the internal side of the legs. Our results confirm the low presence of A. cajennense in the área and its preference toward some specific áreas of tha body of the cattle. |
