| Descrizione: | This paper reviews the contributions to the field of Latin American Studies based on the analysis of more than six hundred thesis presented between 1974 and 2020 to obtain a degree at the the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Based on a quantitative and qualitative analysis, this research presents the interests, concerns and approaches that prevail among those works. This paper also focuses on the theoretical and epistemological tensions, the debates on the multidisciplinary methods, and the incidence that the political and social processes of the region have had on the subjects, countries and temporalities addressed in them. The purpose is to show the specificity of this academic program that has been educating specialists in Latin America for more than half a century. |
