Description: | Mariposas negras para un asesino (2005) and El laberinto del verdugo (2010), by Jorge Méndez Limbrick, come close to the condition of a Costa Rican neo-detective novel, within the Central American neo-detective framework. The relationship of these novels with that genre will be analyzed. A series of qualities will be proposed, such as the construction of complete characters, the exposure of crude realism and the presence of the night as a transcendental element for the emergence of crime, as the basis of a genre that is beginning to be defined and spread in the Costa Rican narrative. |
