Popis:This article examines the tension between aesthetic autonomism and the ethical-political commitment of contemporary art, arguing that this tension does not constitute a mutually exclusive dichotomy but rather the constitutive paradox of modern art, in which the political efficacy of the artwork depends on the formal autonomy that allows it to withdraw from both moralizing didacticism and market neutralization. The article proceeds from the hypothesis that art does not emancipate through the transmission of an explicit ideological content, nor through a retreat into a formalism disconnected from social life, but through two convergent and mutually irreducible operations: the resistance to commodity reification that Theodor W. Adorno attributes to the determinate negation of the autonomous artwork, and the disruption of the distribution of the sensible that Jacques Rancière situates at the core of every aesthetic experience endowed with dissensual potential. On this basis, the article examines the normative debate between autonomism and aesthetic moralism characteristic of Anglo-American analytic aesthetics, the political function of art understood as an interstitial space between emancipation and propaganda, and the deconstruction of the aesthetic canons inherited from European modernity, including its decolonial and feminist axis, grounded in the primary texts of Mignolo (2010) and Dussel (2018) and in secondary sources discussing Mulvey, Nochlin, and Albán Achinte, whose primary essays remain, as noted in the closing section, pending direct incorporation into the documentary corpus. The article concludes that no single formal position guarantees, by itself, the political efficacy of the artwork, and that the articulation between autonomy and dissent, far from resolving dialectically, must be inhabited as a productive tension, permanently threatened by institutional co-optation and by the market logic it claims to resist.
