Descripción:By examining the business guide published by Jerónimo Figueroa Doménech in his Guía general descriptiva... (1899), our aim is to show a classification approach of Mexico City economic activities. Using the North American Industrial Classification System as a reference, which for 20 years has been applied to analyze the development of economic activities in Mexico, USA and Canada, we are able to explore the distribution of business and urban services areas at the end of nineteenth century as a starting point to study this changes with an historical perspective (longue durée).
