Descripció:Introduction. The current context of technological development is transforming all areas of culture and requires a critical and situated reflection on the historical, technological, and epistemological ruptures of the Digital Humanities in their current phase, or Critical Digital Humanism. This process must be studied in general (which is done in this article) and in Latin America (which will be presented in a second part) to establish a New Critical Digital Humanism from the Global South, capable of addressing the complexity of our reality both theoretically and practically (this will be presented in a third part of this research). Objective. This article aims to introduce a critical overview of the Digital Humanities, through which the historical, technological, and epistemological ruptures associated with Critical Digital Humanism are visualized. Methodology. A critical and descriptive bibliographic systematization of the history of the Digital Humanities is presented, identifying different phases and outlining the aforementioned ruptures. Results. A series of critical conclusions that will constitute a first set of general premises for proposing, in future work, the possibility of a New Critical Digital Humanism from the Global South. Results. Conclusions. Critical Digital Humanism breaks with the epistemological linearity of the history of Digital Humanities, due to accelerated technological changes and their impact on culture. What in Digital Humanities is considered an end (free and democratic access to knowledge) becomes in Critical Digital Humanism a means of the critical and situated use of digital technologies in service of a political and educational project, grounded in the needs of the Global South.
