| الوصف: | A methodology for evaluating trap crops for managing Bemisia tabaci (biotype A) as a virus vector in tomato, in Costa Rica, is described. Green beans (Phaseolus vulgaris, Fabaceae), tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum, Solanaceae) and eggplant (Solanum melongena, Solanaceae) reduced the impact of the Tomato yellow mottled virus (ToYMoV) on yields, but tobacco and eggplant performed best. Nevertheless, extrapolating our findings to commercial scale is not straightforward, as has also been shown by other studies, due to a number of reasons that are discussed. |
