Περιγραφή:This article aims to contrast the position of the American philosopher John Dewey with the educational perspective of the Costa Rican educator Emma Gamboa. Three key aspects are considered. The first focuses on the main impacts of Dewey’s philosophy. Second, a brief review of Gamboa’s contributions to the Costa Rican educational context is presented, emphasizing her philosophical, humanistic, and educational framework. Finally, the article seeks to link Dewey’s thought with the educational and humanistic praxis of the Costa Rican educator. The purpose of this essay is to offer a philosophical perspective on how Dewey’s pragmatism and his concept of the school as a laboratory influenced the idea of the educational institution developed by Gamboa.
