Descripción:The objective of the study was to identify the expectations for the disposal of property in La Paz, San Ramón, Alajuela, a rural community located in the buffer zone of the Alberto Manuel Brenes Biological Reserve (ReBAMB). To this end, a housing census was applied between August 2016 and March 2017. During the census, 194 interviews were completed, in which 466 mentions of expectations of property disposal were recorded and distributed in 14 categories. Among them, the following stood out: inheriting the property (56%), sugarcane cultivation (27%), and forest conservation (21%). The correlation analysis registered a negative correlation between the extension of property and trade variables; that is, the smaller the extension of property, the higher the interest in commercial activities. On the other hand, there is a positive correlation between the extension of property and conservation variables; in other words, the greater the extension of the property, the higher the intention to conserve the forest. A negative correlation was determined between the extension of the property and grain cultivation variables, where the less extension of the property the higher the interest in that activity.
