Descripción: | The main purpose of this communication is to promote a dialogue on the role of women in the literary work of Joaquín García Monge (!881-1958) and its reflection in the society of Guancaste from yesterday and today. In this work, concerning keys are implicit in the life of the female characters in García Monge and their experiences, thus allowing to establish a descriptive and comparative analysis of the role of women in the society of Guanacaste. In the stories of Joaquín García Monge, we are invited to travel into the past and be accomplices of events experienced by women who evoke lifestyles, prejudices and very latent stereotypes today, thus linking the past with the present and assess the future from this view. This reflection joins the struggle for gender equality, highlighting the progress made and the challenges to be solved according to the voice, contributions, and perceptions of women from Guanacaste, academic and students of the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica, Chorotega Regional Branch, Campus Liberia. |
