Descrizione:Quality of life involves factors that influence people’s well-being. It encompasses the physical dimension (physical health), the psychological dimension (mental health) and the social dimension (level of independence, relationship with the essential elements of the environment). This article presents the results of a case study that analyzed the experience of the academic activity UNA Calidad de Vida in members of the university community of the Brunca Regional Headquarters and in inhabitants of four cantons of the Brunca Region, during 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. The pillars of UNA Calidad de Vida are self-knowledge, physical activity, and healthy eating, about which about a hundred free workshops were offered and open to the university and local community. The data were collected by means of two instruments during the four years mentioned above. Among the most outstanding results are: the impact of allocating budget and support from the administration for the successful execution of the activities, the need to redirect the lack of interest on the part of the majority of the university community and the identification of the lack of educational spaces that promote quality of life. On the other hand, the success of the workshops, the positive impact they have had on the participants and an emerging need to improve the quality of life of society turned out to be strengths and opportunities that could enhance the theme at the headquarters through UNA Calidad de Vida and similar projects. Through the analysis of the results, it is recommended to conduct a second stage of research, where the needs of the university community in terms of physical activity, healthy eating and self-knowledge are surveyed; as well as the implementation of workshops and institutional measures to ensure that these three pillars continue to be strengthened in a timely and contextualized manner. Key words: quality of life, self-knowledge, physical activity, nutrition, wellbeing.
