Descripción:This study examines how Indian libraries adopt and use Discovery tools, based on a survey of 175 library professionals from varied institutional settings. The research assessed professionals’ awareness, perceptions, and the impact of Discovery Tools on library operations. While 83.4% of respondents were aware of these tools, 41% reported needing further training to use them effectively. These findings underscore the importance of targeted training programs to enhance user proficiency and support the effective integration of Discovery Tools into library services. The study identifies various applications of these tools, —resource discovery to collection management—underscoring their integral role in modern library services. Demographic analyses reveal how factors such as age, experience, and institutional type influence on Discovery tools perceptions. Participants identified challenges related to user interfaces, search capabilities, and system integration, which can negatively affect user satisfaction and engagement. The results also demonstrate the positive impact of Discovery Tools on daily workflows, emphasizing the need for targeted improvements. However, the study acknowledges certain limitations, such as its reliance on self-reported data and its cross-sectional design, which may introduce potential biases in the information retrieval processes. Future research could delve deeper into the nuanced aspects of tool implementation and effectiveness. By highlighting the importance of targeted training and support, this research offers practical recommendations for improving tool utilization. It also provides strategic insights for library professionals seeking to address challenges, optimize workflows, and enhance user satisfaction. Ultimately, the study contributes to a deeper understanding of library technology in the Indian context, paving the way for informed decision-making and future development.
